Kraut Line of the Boston Bruins plays its last game before the players begin military service.

February 10, 1942

The Bruins beat the Montreal Canadiens 8-1 at Boston Garden, as the “Kraut Line” scores 11 points before Woody Dumart, Milt Schmidt and Bobby Bauer – all from Kitchener, Ontario – enlist in the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II. After the game, the three players are given their full season paychecks plus bonuses, watches, and gold ID bracelets by the team, then hoisted onto the shoulders of the their teammates and carried off the ice as the song “Auld Lang Syne” is played in Boston Garden.
